Award announcements have been flowing through thick and fast
and being a member of the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize Shadow Jury has
kept me quite busy with reading, conferring, reviewing so the award announcements
have been pushed to the back burner for a few weeks.
Time to get up to date
Pulitzer Prize
2015
Finalists were:
“Let Me Be Frank With You” by Richard Ford
“The Moor’s Account” by Laila Lalami, and
“Lovely, Dark, Deep” by Joyce Carol Oates
The winner of the $10,000 prize for a work of “fiction by an
American author, preferably dealing with American life” was Anthony Doerr for
his World War II novel “All The Light We Cannot See”
Stella Prize
The winner of the Australia based Stella Prize, $50,000 to
celebrate Australian women writers, was taken out by Emily Bitto for her debut
novel “The Strays”
IMPAC Dublin
Literary Award
The world’s richest Literary Prize (or so they claim) with a
100,000 euro prize (all to the author if written in English, 75,000 to the
writer and 25,000 to the translator if a translated work), announced their
shortlist.

“Harvest” by Jim Crace
“The Narrow Road to the Deep North” by Richard Flanagan
“Burial Rites” by Hannah Kent
“K” by Bernado Kucinski (translated by Sue Branford)

“Sparta” by Roxana Robinson
